Recommendations

These are some of my personal recommendations for basic preparedness supplies.

.

Food Thrive Life freeze-dried and dehydrated food. This affordable and great tasting food normally has a 25-year shelf-life and can be used in everyday cooking. Contact me if you would like to learn more.
Water Filter: Personal Either the Sawyer Mini (about $25) or the Sawyer PointOne Squeeze (about $50). With the Squeeze opt for the version with the bucket adapter. This way you can use the filter with water bottle, squeeze bottle, or gravity feed to filter larger quantities of water. Everyone should have one of these filters in a hiking pack or car emergency kit. They are small, lightweight, effective, and could save your life in an emergency
Water Filter: Home For home use I have the Sawyer SP191 Point Zero filter (about $140). Other systems filter to 0.1 microns, this system filters down to 0.02 microns which will filter contaminants and viruses. Attach the filter to a facet or use a gravity feed bucket.
Water Filter: High Volume For portable, high-volume filtration I recommend the MSR or Katadyne filters. These are lightweight, effective, and easily cleaned.
