Backpacking Stoves

Backpacking stoves are very small and lightweight devices that normally use Iso Butane or liquid fuel. There are a wide variety of excellent stoves on the market. Take some time, do some research, and select the stove that best fits your needs.

  • Flash Boil stoves are primarily designed for boiling water in a specialized cooking vessel.
  • Liquid Fuel stoves come in a variety of shapes and sizes and use a variety of liquid fuels.
  • Pocket Stoves are similar to flash boil stoves but have only the stove burner and no cooking vessels.
  • Biomass Stoves use natural fuels such as wood, twigs, pine cones, or other combustible materials.

There is no single “best stove.” Each has advantages and disadvantages so carefully consider the options and select the stove that best fits your needs.
