Documents

You should have important documents ready in case of an emergency. You can have physical copies of these documents or have electronic copies on a CD, DVD, thumb drive, or other solid state media. This type of media is less susceptible to damage than media with moving parts. Some of the documents that you should include:

Identification including driver’s license, passport, social security card
Will
Deeds
Inventory of household assets
Insurance policies, cards, account numbers
Medical Records including immunization records
Account Numbers for banks, investments, credit cards, etc
Credit Cards

You should have important documents sealed in a watertight container. You should also have backup digital copies of all important documents. I have important records and documents stored on a thumb drive and backed-up on my archive USB drives. I am also working on a downloadable spreadsheet template that will store all of these details (stay tuned).
