If you take care of your knife it can easily last multiple lifetimes.

• Do NOT store a knife in leather sheath (sheath can cause rusting and discolor the blade)
• Use oil on a wood handle and do NOT clean the wood with hot water
• Wipe fingerprints from the blade to remove salts and oils
• Keep the blade sharp (a dull knife is a dangerous knife)
